Edmond Harrison Leavey (1894-1980) was born in Longview, Texas. He received his commission in the Corps of Engineers from West Point in 1917, and was assistant Professor of military science and tactics at Rensselaer from 1922 to 1926. He graduated from the Command and General Staff School in 1938, and served with the construction division in the office of the quartermaster general from 1940 to 1942.
